"I Would Do It All Again" →
I always get a little teary-eyed when I read about people like this amazing woman, who harbored three Jewish men in her home during Hitler’s reign. She would have been killed in a second if she’d been discovered. I hope I’m never in a position where I have to be so brave.
Bonus awesome points: she used to be a librarian.

The secret life of libraries →
I love libraries. Always have, always will. I also work at a library. It has never, not for a second, felt like work to me. I’m fortunate in that the library district I work for hasn’t been subject to any downsizing. We don’t have the budget we used to five or six years ago, but we have a budget. This is where it helps that 1) I share a name with a moderately successful Canadian singer-songwriter who takes up the first, oh, 5,000 or so search results for our shared name, 2) I’ve lived a very boring, un-Google-worthy life, and 3) the only actual search result that leads to me specifically is the cast list for a community theater version of “Honk!” from 2003.
